From May 8-12, 25 SAAOs from the Department of Agricultural Extension, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of Bangladesh were trained on agriculture production and nutrition for the Ministry of Agriculture’s two-year Agriculture, Nutrition, and Gender Linkages (ANGeL) pilot project. SAAOs came from eight districts, including Narsingdi, Khagrachhari, Comilla, Barisal, Chuadanga, Sherpur, Bogra, and Chittagong.

Typically, agriculture extension activities do not deliberately integrate nutrition; however, the ANGeL Project will evaluate how combining nutrition and agriculture production in extension activities affect (1) farmer incomes, (2) household dietary diversity, and (3) agricultural diversity.

The ANGeL Project is a ministry-led randomized controlled trial, funded jointly by the Government of Bangladesh and United States Agency for International Development (USAID), with technical assistance from the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), and Helen Keller International (HKI), and coordinated by the Agricultural Policy Support Unit of the Ministry of Agriculture.
